Culinary Delights Workshop

Activities for Two-Five Year Olds
Step 1: Exploring cooking utensils
Step 2: Exploring utensils with water
Step 3: Pouring dry ingredients
Step 4: Pouring wet ingredients
Step 5: Comparing textures, colors of fresh fruits and vegetables
Step 6: Comparing textures, colors of canned fruits and vegetables
Step 7: Dipping raw fruits and vegetables in dip or sauce
Step 8: Scrubbing vegetables with brushes
Step 9: Breaking lettuce, snapping beans, shelling peanuts
Step 10: Stirring and mixing wet and dry ingredients
Step 11: Measuring wet and dry ingredients
Step 12: Placing toppings on pizza or snack

Fruit Soup
1 whole honeydew or cantaloupe melon or ½ of each
1 banana
½ cup orange juice
¼- ½ cup yogurt
Grapes and other fruits
Scoop out the melon with a melon baler
Cut up the banana
Add orange juice for the base of the soup to a blender with melon, yogurt, and banana. Yogurt can be added to make the texture smooth.
Add cut up fruit and grapes as decoration on the top of the soup.

Banana Apple Icy
1 apple
1 banana
½ cup milk in the winter or 11 oz. of club soda in the summer
1 cup plain yogurt (could use vanilla or flavored)
3 ice cubes
Peel, core and slice apple
Peel and slice banana
Put both in the blender with milk/club soda and yogurt
Add ice cubes
Blend until smooth

Harry Potter Butterbeer
1 ½ tablespoons butterscotch or caramel syrup
1 cup of club soda or root beer
Mix butterscotch with club soda or caramel with root beer
Graham Cracker Treat
Graham crackers
Honey
Paintbrushes
Dried fruit of choice
Paint honey onto graham cracker
Place dried fruit into the honey

Snow Dip
¾ cup small curd cottage cheese
½ cup plain yogurt
¼ cup fresh parsley
Mix cottage cheese and yogurt together until smooth in blender
Mix in parsley
Can serve with broccoli (snow on tree branches)

Lettuce Wrap Arounds
Lettuce leaves
Cheese slices
Lunchmeat
Lay lettuce leaf on the table
Place meat and cheese on lettuce
Roll up and secure with toothpicks

Carrot Curls
Carrot sticks
Veggie peeler
Bowl of ice water (lots of ice)
Peel carrots, then start making passes at clean carrot with peeler
Put peels into ice water (may need to also put in fridge for ½ hour if not curling)
After carrots curl, serve with dip

Apple Sandwich
1 apple
Peanut butter (cream cheese or soy butter if allergies)
Cut off the bottom of the apple so that it sits flat
Slice the apple that is your bread you need 2 slices
Spread peanut butter on 1 half and then put the other half


Banana Shake Bag
Banana
Plastic bag
Chopped nuts
Sprinkles
Peel and slice the banana into chunks
Add sprinkles and nuts to the bag
Put in the banana pieces
Shake

Monkey Meal
Bananas
Hot dog buns
Peanut butter
Coconut
Chocolate chips
Spread peanut butter on the hot dog bun
Peel the banana and place in the peanut butter on the bun
Add coconut and chocolate chips on the top

Peach Salsa
1-pound fresh peaches
2 red or orange bell peppers
1 Vadilla onion
Spices: Cilantro and Sweet garlic
Peel all the peaches but one
Slice peaches
Slice peppers
Slice onion
Place all into the blender and blend
Add spices to taste
Flour tortillas make in the oven with cinnamon and brown sugar are great with this salsa
